It had to be a party and a big party was. The 41st Wing opens its doors to all the apps for journalists but above all to those who in 40 years have allowed the Br.1150 “Atlantic” to get up in flight always ensuring maximum efficiency in every situationIt’s been 40 years since that June 27, 1972, the date of the first Br.1150 Atlantic delivered by the firm of Toulouse and landed on the airport of Sigonella. 40 years in which the Atlantic has accumulated over 250,000 hours of dives and that the visa engaged in numerous missions synonymous with its great reliability and ability to adapt to every condition and need. After the greetings by the Commander of the 41st Wing, the Pilot Colonel Dario Antonio Missaglia the inauguration of the Sala Navigazione teams at the S.Ten.Pil. Gaetano Marletta, Silver Medal for military valor in the field. After the ceremony the signature of the participants on a plinth made with a Mad (Magnetic Anomaly Detector) belonging to a Br.1150 now radiated from the service.
ATR P-72A Italy - Air Force
On the square in front of the building the static exhibition with aircraft belonging to the Italian Air Force, the Italian Navy, the Coast Guard and the US Navy. In particular, two aircraft known as UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) from the neighboring US Navy base. A Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk and a General Atomics RQ-1 Predator. Star of the event the Br.1150 for the occasion in special color version. The plane colored with the engines of the yellow and with the camouflage drift to remember the strong bond with the S79 “Sparviero” used by the wing at the end of the 30.

Present a Piaggio P166DL3-SEM1 of the Coast Guard, an AgustaWestland EH101-110 of the Navy and one that will soon take the place of the Atlantic, the ATR P-72A. The aircraft chosen by our Air Force to replace the superb Atlantic will enter the flight line in the immediate future. Guests of the 41st wing the Frecce Tricolori Acrobatic Team, risked the airport of Sigonellla in view of the Air show the day after on the skies of Acireale. In the afternoon the over 2 Atlantic flights present in the square, the Sikorsky HH-3F performance of the 82nd CSAR Center of Trapani-Birgi and some passes of the ATR 72-600 still painted only in primer.
An event full of emotions organized in an excellent way that has been able to give all those present moments of emotion and nostalgia to an airplane that for over 40 years has managed to bring together under a single flag men and women of the 41th Wing.
