MEETING AERIEN
CAMBRAI
FRANCIA
15Th May 2011
Organized by the AeroClub Cambrai-Niergnies the event finds its place at the Cambrai racetrack. Built in 1935 it was used during the Second World War by the Luftwaffe, which in 1940 used it for the Battle of France. Abandoned, it was then modernized in 1943 with the construction of 2 concrete tracks measuring 1,600 meters in length and the construction of various structures on the ground. Bombed by the ninth USAF, the airport is definitively abandoned by the Germans. Used by the 48th Figther Group on (P47) and from the 394th on (B-26) comes June 30, 1945 delivered to the French aviation ministry. Following the cold war threat, the base returns to the hands of the US Air Force, which after a great work of requalification makes it operative to accommodate five squadrons. However, the base is never used and in 1967 it was abandoned. Today, with an apex in grass and one in asphalt, the old base houses the Aeroclub Louis Bleriot with 6 aircraft and the Cambrai Glider Flying Club with 4 gliders. The proximity of the Cambrai air base, and the Tiger Meet exercise made it possible to organize the event. Thanks to this concurrence, the Air Show has seen the presence in flight of a right mix of historic civilian aircraft and assets used for the exercise.

North American T-28B "Trojan" Private
In flight clearly not all the attitudes present at the Tiger Meet have taken part in the Meeting but certainly of great visual impact the depictions presented by the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 UBS of the Slovak Air Force, McDonnell Douglas F / A 18C of the Switzerland-Schweizer Luftwaffe, by the the Dassault RafaleB of the Armée de l’Air, the Saab 105ÖE of the Österreichische Luftstreitkräfte. Certainly exciting moment, the flyover of nine aircraft from the base of Cambrai. Present in the display program the two patrols representing the French Air Force. Beyond the “Patrouille de France” on Dassault-Dornier Alpha Jet E, the “Cartouche Dore Team” acrobatic team on TB-30 Epsilon Soca.

De Havilland Vampire FB.6 Private
Three helicopters engaged in the display, two those normally used for combat actions, a Eurocopter EC.655 “Tiger” 5 RHC (5 Régiment d’Hélicoptères de Combat) and the always bad Mil Mi-35 in the special color version of the Czech Air Force. Excellent performance of the Italian helicopters, belonging to the 21th Squadron of Grazzanise, the Bell AB212 ICO gave a great demonstration of maneuverability. The space dedicated to historic aircraft is large, with numerous propeller aircraft, such as the Hawker Sea Fury FB.10, the North American T-6G Texan, the Morane-Saulnier MS-506L Criquet, the SV-4A Prints, the Piper J -3C-65 Cub, the two De Havilland DH-82 Tiger Moth and the wonderful Morane-Saulnier MS 406 C1 “Bretagne”.
