There are many exercises fielded by NATO to realistically train their men’s tactics, techniques and procedures. This allows multinational forces to operate in symbiosis at the highest possible levels. One of the best known exercises in the aeronautical world is surely the TLP (Tactical Leadership Program). Divided into 4 sessions, one for each quarter and with a duration of 4 weeks, for many years it has seen the participation of all the airline members of the large Nato family. Born in 1979 at Jever in Germany, the exercise has seen over the years, especially after the withdrawal of the Canadian forces from Central Europe, a continuous growth, bringing the air forces in Europe to choose the base of Florence as the site of the course until 2009.
Hawker Siddeley Sea Harrier F/A.2 RN/801 Squadron United Kingdom - Royal Navy
The restricted airspace, the impossibility of performing night missions, and the often difficult weather conditions in Belgium led to the transfer to the Albacete-Los Llanos base in Spain. The course is not limited to flying well, but teaches the various students the planning and the ability to fly in multinational packages with multiple targhets and in different weather conditions.
