It often happens that you visit museums in other countries, often forgetting the great heritage that each state possesses. A treasure made up of hundreds of aircraft that in just a hundred years have marked the history and the changes in the way of understanding transfers from one place to another on the planet and the way to face conflicts.
Localed in the Municipality of Bracciano, the Vigna di Valle Museum remains condoned by many, one of the most beautiful displays of military aircraft not only in Italy but probably in all of Europe. Inaugurated in 1977 by the President of the Republic ON. Giovanni Leone the museum, is entirely managed by the Aeronautica Militare.
The whole structure (former Bracciano-Vigna di Valle airport) overlooks the beautiful lake and consists of 4 Hangars and an outdoor exhibition. The Museum tells the story of Italian Aeronautics from trees to today with a route full of aircraft and memorabilia that have characterized the evolution of its Aeronautics.
The Collection
In the first hangar (Troster) the visitor is immediately immersed in what has been the pioneering flight, they were the first of the 900. On display a replica of a Wright 4, used to patent the first Italian driver Mario Calderara. Only the original engine remains of the aircraft.The room is entirely dedicated to the airplanes of the First World War. Ansaldo S.V.A. 5used for the raid on Vienna is certainly the most interesting aircraft of this first exhibition area.
Macchi Hanriot HDI (1926)
The second hangar (Velo) mainly hosts the aircraft operating between the two world wars. These were the years of great speed racing, on all the Schneider Cup.The races for seaplanes alone, inflamed the minds of all the participating nations (Italy-France-United States and England) in the 30s, creating a great interest with more than 200,000 spectators for each individual race. Macchi-Castoldi M.C.72is exhibited in the hall in its splendid red livery. With a speed of 709,202 km / h still holds the record for the fastest seaplane in the world.First to access the next hangar you can admire the first jet aircraft of the Italian Air Force, Campini-Caproni CC.2.

The third hangar (Badoni) hosts the aircraft operating in the second world war. Here are the first Italian construction fighter jets, Macchi M.C.200, M.C.202and M.C.205, the bombardiers, the torpedo aircraft, the reconnaissance and connecting aircraft.A magnificent specimen of Supermarine Spitfireand a North American P-51are reminiscent of airplanes to the allies during the terrible world war. Both aircraft are the flags of the Italian Air Force.

The fourth hangar (Skema) houses the latest aircraft. On display the Fiat G91 Panand the Aermacchi Mb 339PAN the aircraft used by the Italian acrobatic team. It is possible to admire the entire flight line of jet aircraft that have served in the Italian departments, up to the most recent Panavia Tornado F3 Adv. For the nostalgic positioned in the middle of the hall the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, the famous star-hunter.
