Who really loves the world of flying can not have been in what I personally consider the most beautiful museum in Europe and certainly one of the most interesting museums in the world. Located near Duxford near Cambridge, the historic museum occupies an area of … including in its pavilions an incredible amount of aircraft of all ages. The museum, divided into seven exhibition sites, houses in the last pavilion the “American Air Museum” a collection dedicated exclusively to American aircraft. Display star a Lockheed SR-71 “Blackbird”.

But what makes it truly unique, and that here thanks to the pass of volunteers and technicians it is possible to admire in flight a large part of these formidable aircraft. But the Duxford Museum is not just a museum but thanks to the two slopes, one in the grass and the other in asphalt can host air shows. It welcomes four events within a year.

The second named “Flight Legends” sees in flight all the restored historical planes present in the collection, plus a large number of airplanes coming from private collections. A unique moment, a dive into the past for all the viewers. Here in flight you can admire all those planes that have marked an era. The fabulous Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane, two planes that contributed to the victory of the English people in the hard years of the Second World War.

For all lovers of boarded aircraft used by the US Navy and the Royal Navy during the world war, a Royal Navy Hawker Sea Fury T.20, a Goodyear Corsair FG-1D, a Grumman FM2 Wildcat, a Grumman Hellcat F6F and a Grumman F8F Bearcat, all in their wonderful classic livery. An air combat between two North American P-51D Mustang and two Hispano Aviaciòn HA-1112 brings everyone’s memory back to that distant June 6, 1944 when the Allies set foot on the French beaches for the one returned by everyone, as the largest naval landing in history.
